And actually decent for a harem series! The hero is pretty likeable but does retain much of the standard harem MC idiocy. The story itself is interesting and the focus on battles and tactics makes it engrossing.

On a side note it's pretty disappointing that the current translator is so focused on two other light novels which basically have the same premise and setting as each other (and like ten other series <_<) rather than continuing work on this one. But hey, it's his choice and apparently fans of generic crap are the most vocal amongst his followers sigh

silly hero..he is useless even with his bow.....80% time he is injured or fatigue whereas the vanadis who fights 90% of the battle are barely injure

Wtf.....if you have some power and you have 2000 soldiers and you are fighting against some 50000 soldier,,,,,, why the hell not use your power ??? ? Silly
Our hero always say" I will not use my power I will fight with my human strength"

That fucker...
Soldiers are dying in battlefield defending him and that harem sucker is not using his bow power for no good reason......he thinks that bow power is evil.......even though that is his heirloom ....and is there for him to use it but that fucker doesn't care of soldiers dying for him .........even though he could have stopped it easily...morale less author.
Perhaps our author is newbie

In vol. 5 ...his father like figure died protecting him ,, even though he could have save him if he would have used his bow...he just pissess me offfffff......

If you are looking for harem,,romance you will be extremely disappointed..... Because it has very subtle romance.....its basically war,,more war,,,,and war///

It has your typical easy going lazy main character, at first glance anyway. But he's not lazy when it comes to hunting and archery. I also like how it deals with some war/strategy, choices, consequences, and some of the costs of having an army. I also like the fact that even though it has a harem-ish feel at times, most of the women aren't just falling all over him, and he never really chases after women.

Glad I tried it, it really is awesome. Death is pretty much every where and killing it labeled as the matter of course in many a circumstance and for many a people,the achaic-ness is pretty cool.
And most importantly the protagonist is a hero who kills a lot of people ,not a anti-hero that kills a lot of people, a hero.First time read something like that.

Also from volume 5, was it me or did the illustrations suddenly look a lot like Toaru Majutsu no Index's (on volume 5 now, not sure about 6 or 7)

Love the novel, there's some fanservice but the main thing I love is the clashes between armies and how tactics plays an important role in everything. Add in political motives and hints of romance/character development, it's definitely one of the best novels I've read in a while =)
