Hello all, 4l2d2b

We are in the process of looking for release updaters/maintainers. If you are motivated, don't mind fixing mistakes, and want to help the community/site out for a while, we'd be glad to have your help. Please send Manick and/or lambchopsil a private message and we'd be happy to consider you. Only send in a request if you are truly motivated though, as updating is a lot of work!

We look forward to the help!

Wait... so updaters aren't just anyone who wants to edit series and es through the "barrier" anymore? I that that was how I became one a while back.

This is about dedicated updaters and maintainers the rest are just casual updaters.

what do dedicated updates actually do? i mean don't scanlation groups add their updates before we get a chance to?
i only add updates when i see an update not here and already on some other manga site/scanlation group page
most of the time people already added it before i get to

Maybe they're talking about the 'ing' jobs?
When scanlation groups 'report' their releases to MU, someone from MU will go around making sure the chapters actually exist. Prevent fake releases being reported etc.
Umm... correct me if I'm wrong.

How would you go about determining qualifications? Need references?

Uh a while ago I wanted to update some tohou doujins with descriptions and stuff, so I asked for permissions to do that, and was granted them. You're really overthinking it. If you come across new series or incorrect information, you add/correct it. It's really not that complicated. One thing I notice is missing alot is author information (Even such stuff as hobbies etc), which is mentioned on their personal websites.

Look around at different authors websites and see if there's anything you can update in their profile. If you find something, ask for permission to add it. For example, this is filled out with information. http://mangaupdates.telechargervous.com/authors.html?id=296

Compared to something like this. http://mangaupdates.telechargervous.com/authors.html?id=2934
